• To keep pieces of garlic from sticking when chopping garlic, sprinkle a few drops of vegetable oil over the peeled garlic cloves first.
• Add color to pale gravy by adding a pinch of instant coffee granules while it simmers. The small amount will enrich the color without changing the flavor.
• A drop of baby oil on a knotted necklace will make it easier to unravel.
• Hate the smell of boiling cabbage? Adding a splash of vinegar to the cooking water helps reduce the odor.
• Packaged dried fruit such as raisins will stay fresh and moist twice as long when kept in the fridge instead of a cabinet.
Got a drink recipe that calls for superfine bar sugar? Pulse granulated sugar in a blender until fine, but now powdered.
